Primary Responsibilities:
– Design work plans for automation initiatives.
– Spearhead automation projects from the initial idea to full-scale execution, overseeing both external suppliers and internal team members during the project lifecycle.
– Execute pilot projects for automation initiatives to assess new technologies and their applications.
– Provide support to the Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory.
– Participate in the exchange of knowledge on digital transformation with the manufacturing engineering teams.
– Document and confirm effective practices in utilizing automation and digital tools throughout the company’s divisions.
– Prioritize project tasks based on the organization’s strategic objectives.
– Assist in the formulation of technical protocols for projects related to automation and digital transformation.
– Commit to ensuring the principles of Lean manufacturing are applied in automation projects.
– Undertake additional responsibilities as needed.
– Make decisions rooted in ethics and integrity, adhering to the company’s compliance guidelines.
– Expectation to travel within North America, approximately 25-30% of the time.
– Aid in the audit processes for ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 certifications at offsite locations.
– Meet the specifications outlined in the Quality Management System Standard Operating Procedure 8000.
Educational Background:
– A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a similar field, or an equivalent mix of education and hands-on experience.
Experience and Skills:
– A minimum of 7 years of experience in manufacturing and automation engineering.
– Proficient in drafting with AutoCAD.
– Strong capabilities in managing time and projects, including prioritizing and handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
– Familiarity with various project management approaches, including Waterfall and Agile.
– Proficient in interpreting mechanical, system, and layout schematics.
– Knowledgeable in programming Rockwell PLCs, understanding networking protocols, and technologies.
– Basics in programming robots, such as those from ABB, Yaskawa, and Fanuc.
– Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
– Proven leadership abilities.
